I hit the power button on my laptop at work about noon on Friday to head home and pack up to go down to the Lakehouse Cabin for the weekend. Grabbed some DVD’s, food, ice chest, clothes, camera, lawn gear, and loaded up the truck.

I couldn’t get out of town quick enough and get the weekend started. A quick stop by the liquor store for some Bib & Tucker Whiskey, and slowly fought traffic to the 2 lane road turn off. Slowly, I proceeded, anxiously awaiting my final arrival.
October in Texas is still hot and the temperature was still above 90 degrees. My evening and weekend wouldn’t officially begin until I finished mowing the yard at the lake house. Finally, one last turn and I made it. I jumped out of the truck and quickly began mowing the yard ……
I guess around 5pm, Friday evening, I could finally relax. After icing down the beer and cracking open the whiskey, it was about time to enjoy the evening with the sun setting over the lake.

By then, I had the tunes going and my feet kicked up overseeing the lakeview. I slowly sank into the night thinking of good friends I haven’t seen in a while and how good I finally felt to be carefree. Six beers and 3-4 whiskeys later, it was time to eat something. I made my way into the house, put on a movie (DVD) and began to heat up my pre-made meal I brought for the evening. My head was spinning pretty good as I slowly drifted to sleep.
The next morning, I anxiously awaited for my son to come down so we could do some fishing. I cleaned up a little, did a little work out, and had some lunch. When he finally arrived around noon, we decided we must go to the store and get some more beer and snacks.
As the afternoon began to shift into the the evening, we were getting excited to fish. Of course, my son brought some cigars, so we smoked some on the back porch. He had brought an assortment of different ones and the one I liked the most was the flavorful Fat Bottom Bettys. It smelt great, tasted sweet on the exterior, burned evenly and slow, and had a rich nutty flavor. My son began getting his fishing gear ready while I poured some whiskey on ice. Yep, you guessed it, Bib & Tucker.
No such luck catching any fish but it was nice to sit and enjoy the setting sun over the lake with the rhythm of the water.
